ClinConnect Summary
The Type 1 Diabetes Education and Support Study is looking at how to better support young Black adults aged 18 to 30 who have type 1 diabetes (T1D). Researchers have noticed that this group often faces extra challenges, known as diabetes distress, which can make it harder for them to manage their blood sugar levels. This study will test a special program designed to help participants improve their diabetes management and overall health.
To be eligible for the study, you need to be a member of Kaiser Permanente Georgia, between 18 and 30 years old, and have a confirmed diagnosis of type 1 diabetes with a certain level of blood sugar (a hemoglobin A1c greater than 7.5). You should also be able to read in English and have a cell phone for communication. Participants will be involved in group sessions and online activities, which will help them learn about managing their diabetes in a supportive environment. This study is currently recruiting participants, and your involvement could make a difference in understanding and improving care for young Black adults with T1D.
