ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is designed to study a tool called the Hypotension Prediction Index (HPI) during a specific type of surgery known as free flap surgery, which is often used to treat patients with head and neck cancer. The goal of the study is to see if using the HPI can help reduce low blood pressure, known as hypotension, during the surgery. Low blood pressure can lead to complications, so the researchers want to find out if this tool can help keep blood pressure above a certain level and improve the success of the surgery.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult who is scheduled for head and neck free flap surgery and willing to give your written consent. Unfortunately, those under 18 years old, pregnant individuals, or those with certain heart conditions or a lack of health insurance will not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to be monitored closely for your blood pressure during the surgery, and the researchers will assess how well the HPI works in helping to maintain stable blood pressure. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to provide important insights into improving surgical outcomes for patients undergoing this type of surgery.
