ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new training program designed to help workers prevent falls caused by slips. The program, called slip recovery training, teaches participants how to regain their balance if they start to slip, which is particularly important for those in jobs where slipping is common. The goal is to see if this training is practical for workers, and whether it can be effectively evaluated for future research.
To qualify, participants should be between 18 and 65 years old and work in specific roles at Virginia Tech or Veolia, such as in dining services, housekeeping, or construction. They will take part in 3 to 6 training sessions over several weeks, track any falls they experience while working through daily text messages for 12 weeks, and some may join group discussions to share their experiences afterward. Additionally, a small group will participate in a lab session to better understand how slip recovery training works compared to other balance training methods. This study is currently recruiting participants, and being part of it could help improve safety in the workplace for many workers at risk of slips and falls.
