ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to help African American adults with type 2 diabetes improve their appetite control and manage their blood sugar levels. Over six months, participants will use a digital app called Centering Appetite, which includes diabetes education and online lessons about how to regulate their appetite better. They will also receive a Fitbit to track their daily physical activity. Researchers want to see how well they can recruit participants, keep them engaged, and whether they find the program helpful.
To join the study, individuals need to be at least 18 years old, identify as Non-Hispanic African American, and have a blood sugar level (A1c) higher than 7.5. They should also have a working smartphone and complete a screening for binge eating. However, those with severe complications from diabetes, a history of weight loss surgery, pregnant individuals, or those currently in substance use treatment or other weight loss programs will not be eligible. Participants will be followed up with after six months to see how they are doing. This trial offers a chance to learn more about managing diabetes and improving overall health in a supportive environment.
