ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Facilitating Access to Specialty Treatment," is focused on improving how quickly and effectively patients recover from concussions and mild traumatic brain injuries. The study is testing a new mobile health program that helps patients connect with specialized care by allowing them to report their symptoms and daily activities using a smartphone app. This information is linked to their medical records and helps doctors refer them to the right specialists more quickly. The goal is to make it easier for patients to get the care they need, especially for those who might have a harder time accessing it.
To participate in the trial, patients must be between 13 and 18 years old, have visited the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia emergency department within 72 hours of a head injury, and have symptoms that meet specific concussion criteria. They also need to own a smartphone. Parents of eligible children can also take part in the study, as well as healthcare providers who are involved in the care transition. Participants will use the app daily to share their experiences, helping researchers understand if this approach really helps speed up recovery and improve access to care.
