ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how different diets might help people with moderately active ulcerative colitis, a condition that causes inflammation in the digestive tract. Participants will be randomly assigned to follow either a normal healthy diet or a modified diet that excludes certain food additives, specifically emulsifying agents like carrageenan and polysorbates. Researchers will compare participants' diets, health conditions, and gut bacteria before and after one month to see if these changes can reduce disease activity and improve gut health.
To be eligible for this trial, you need to have moderately active ulcerative colitis and be on stable medication. Unfortunately, those with severe disease, recent surgery, pregnancy, or certain other health conditions cannot participate. If you join the study, you can expect to follow a specific diet and have regular assessments to track your health and any changes in your gut bacteria. This trial is currently recruiting participants of all genders aged 65 to 74.
