ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how certain treatments might help muscles heal better after an injury, specifically at the area where muscles connect to tendons. The study will involve 40 patients who are scheduled for knee surgery. They will either receive a growth hormone or a placebo (a substance with no active effect) after their surgery, and some will also undergo a therapy that involves stimulating their hamstring muscles. The goal is to understand how proteins in the muscle tissue can aid in recovery and repair.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be healthy men or women between the ages of 65 and 74, with a body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 35. However, people who have used growth hormones or steroids in the past, taken corticosteroids recently, or have certain chronic diseases cannot participate. If you join the study, you can expect to receive either the growth hormone or placebo and take part in some muscle stimulation therapy, all while helping researchers learn more about muscle recovery.
