ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new treatment for people who suffer from chronic pain conditions, specifically fibromyalgia and complex regional pain syndromes (CRPS). The study will test a method called low-intensity focused ultrasound, which is a type of sound wave therapy that targets specific areas in the brain to help manage pain. Researchers want to see if this treatment can improve the quality of life for those living with these challenging conditions.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be between the ages of 18 and 75 and have a diagnosis of either CRPS or fibromyalgia made by a doctor at Carilion. However, people with certain medical conditions, such as those who cannot have MRI or CT scans or have a history of seizures, are not eligible. If you join the study, you will undergo treatments and assessments to monitor any changes in your pain levels and overall well-being. This could be an opportunity to explore a new approach to managing chronic pain.
