ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of a medication called sugammadex to help patients wake up smoothly after surgery, specifically thyroid surgery. After general anesthesia, it's important for patients to be extubated, or have their breathing tube removed, without complications like coughing or bucking, which can cause issues such as increased bleeding or infection risks. The researchers want to find out if giving sugammadex at different times around the extubation process can reduce these complications compared to traditional methods.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be between 19 and 64 years old and in generally good health, meaning they are classified as low-risk by the American Society of Anesthesiologists. However, those with certain conditions, such as breathing problems, obesity, or difficulties with intubation, will not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to receive sugammadex before and right after the breathing tube is removed, and the team will monitor how smoothly you wake up. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to improve the safety and comfort of patients recovering from thyroid surgery.
