ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how two different types of anesthesia (pain management during surgery) affect patients undergoing sleeve gastrectomy, a type of weight-loss surgery. The researchers want to find out if using anesthesia without opioids (strong pain medications) can reduce the total amount of opioid used during the surgery and whether it leads to less pain afterwards compared to using opioid-based anesthesia. Patients in the study will be divided into two groups: one will receive a combination of medications that do not include opioids, while the other will receive traditional opioid pain relief.

To be eligible for this trial, participants should be between 18 and 75 years old, have a confirmed diagnosis of severe obesity, and be scheduled for elective laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. They also need to be in good enough health to undergo anesthesia. Participants can expect to receive careful monitoring and pain management based on their individual needs throughout the procedure. It’s important to note that those with certain health conditions, like severe heart issues or a history of depression, may not qualify for the study. If you're considering joining this trial, you'll be asked to give your consent and will be informed about what to expect during the process.
