Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Cbt Postpartum Depression Ppd Randomized Controlled Trial Rct

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying whether a one-day online workshop using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can help prevent postpartum depression and anxiety in new mothers. The researchers want to see if adding this workshop to regular care (which we call treatment as usual) can lower the rates of postpartum depression after childbirth. They will measure the mothers' mental health using a questionnaire called the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) two months after delivery.

To participate in this study, women must be at least 18 years old, living in Ontario, Canada, and in their third trimester of pregnancy (between 28 to 36 weeks). Additionally, they should have had some past experience with major depression and score above 6 on the EPDS. However, women who are currently experiencing major depression or have certain mental health conditions, like bipolar disorder, will not be eligible. Participants can expect to take part in the online workshop and complete some questionnaires about their feelings and mental health. This trial is currently looking for volunteers to join and help researchers learn more about supporting new mothers during this important time.
