ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at ways to help young African American women who misuse alcohol and are HIV-negative. The researchers want to see if adding a virtual group support feature to a mobile health app can help these women reduce their alcohol use, lower their risk of sexually transmitted infections, and encourage them to use pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), a medication that helps prevent HIV.
To participate, women must be between 18 and 30 years old, identify as Black or African American, and have a smartphone. They should also be experiencing recent substance use and not be currently taking PrEP. Participants will be randomly assigned to either use the health app alone or the app with the added group support, and they will be followed up for up to a year to see how well the programs work. This study is currently not recruiting participants, but it aims to gather important information on how to better support young women in these areas.
