ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how artificial intelligence (AI) can help identify different types of benign lesions on the vocal folds, which are non-cancerous growths that can cause voice problems known as dysphonia. Dysphonia can make it difficult to speak clearly, and it's quite common, affecting about 1% of people. The researchers want to develop and test new algorithms—basically, advanced computer programs—that can analyze voice recordings to help doctors better understand the specific vocal fold issues a patient may have, instead of just deciding if the person is healthy or not.

To participate in this trial, individuals aged 6 to 74 with certain vocal fold conditions like Reinke's edema, vocal fold cysts, nodules, or polyps may be eligible. However, those with a history of certain surgeries, speech therapy, or specific health issues related to the throat or lungs, as well as non-native Italian speakers, will not be included. Participants will provide voice recordings that the AI will analyze, and this could lead to more accurate and less invasive ways of diagnosing vocal fold problems in the future. This research aims to improve how doctors diagnose and treat voice disorders, ultimately enhancing patient care.
