ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help reduce scarring after surgery on the head or neck. When doctors close a wound with stitches, it often leaves a scar. Researchers want to see if using a special dressing called a "tie-over bolster dressing" can help improve the healing process and reduce the appearance of scars. In this study, after the wound is stitched normally, half of it will also be covered with this extra dressing. The goal is to compare the healing of the side with the bolster dressing to the side without it to see if there’s less scarring.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for surgery on your head or neck that requires stitches. You should also be able to understand and give consent for the study, and be willing to come back for follow-up visits. It’s important to note that if you are currently pregnant, under 18, or unable to understand English, you won’t be able to participate. If you join, you can expect to receive standard care for your wound, along with the additional dressing on one side, and regular check-ins to monitor your healing.
