ClinConnect Summary
The STARGATE Study is an international research project that aims to understand how often serious problems occur during airway management in patients receiving general anesthesia. This is particularly important because managing a patient’s airway—ensuring they can breathe properly during surgery—can sometimes lead to complications like heart issues or severe oxygen shortages. The study will look at adult patients (18 years and older) who are undergoing surgeries, both in operating rooms and outside of them. By gathering data from a wide range of healthcare settings, researchers hope to get a clearer picture of current practices and the risks involved.
Eligible participants include all adults who need advanced airway management for anesthesia during their surgery. However, those who are critically ill or receiving airway management during emergency situations like CPR will not be included. If you join the study, you will help provide valuable information that could improve safety practices in anesthesia worldwide. Your participation may contribute to better outcomes for future patients undergoing surgery.
