ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new approach to treating complicated appendicitis in children, specifically looking at the effects of a "Fast Track" surgery method. The goal is to see how this method impacts the rate of complications, like abdominal abscesses, after surgery. Researchers are particularly focused on children aged 2 to 16 who are diagnosed with complicated appendicitis and have undergone a laparoscopic appendectomy, which is a minimally invasive type of surgery.
To be eligible for this study, children must have specific criteria, such as having an increased white blood cell count or C-reactive protein level 72 hours after surgery, but they need to be stable with no fever and able to eat normally. Parents or guardians must also agree for their child to participate. If your child qualifies and you choose to participate, you can expect close monitoring after the surgery to assess recovery and any potential complications. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to improve how we care for children with this condition.
