ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how doulas can help support women who are experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), which can include issues like postpartum depression. The researchers want to see if having a trained doula can make a difference for women during their pregnancy, childbirth, and after delivery. In this study, about 75 pregnant women from rural areas of Montana will be involved. Some will receive regular doula care, while others will get special support from a doula who is trained to help with PMADs. There will also be a group of women who will not have a doula but will receive standard care during their pregnancy.

To participate, women need to be over 18 years old, currently pregnant between 13 and 26 weeks, and live in a specific rural area of Montana. Throughout the study, participants will fill out surveys to share their experiences and feelings at different points after giving birth. This feedback will help researchers understand how effective the doula support is in helping new mothers feel better emotionally. If you or someone you know fits this description and is interested in joining, it could be a valuable opportunity to contribute to important research in maternal health.
