ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Mechanisms of Type 1 Diabetes Endophenotypes," aims to better understand the different ways type 1 diabetes affects children and young adults. Researchers will collect and analyze various types of information, including medical history, lab results, and genetic data, to uncover the underlying causes of the disease and its potential risks, such as heart problems. The study hopes to enroll participants aged 0 to 25 years who have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, as well as healthy individuals aged between 6 and 25 to serve as a comparison group.
If you or your child are eligible, you can expect to provide informed consent and participate in assessments that may involve sharing health information and samples. There are no specific exclusion criteria for those with type 1 diabetes, meaning most patients will qualify. However, healthy control participants must not be on certain medications or have other health conditions that could interfere with the study. This research is important as it seeks to improve our understanding of type 1 diabetes and could lead to better treatments and preventive measures in the future.
