ClinConnect Summary
The "Children at Risk and Oral Health, The Dental Record Study" is a research project aimed at understanding the oral health needs of children who may have experienced abuse or neglect. The study will look at dental records from children enrolled in Children's Advocacy Centers (CAC) to see if there are signs in their dental health that could indicate past maltreatment. It will also assess how much help these children need from dental services and whether there should be better teamwork between different agencies, like the CAC and Child Welfare Services.
To participate in this study, children must be enrolled at a CAC, and there will be a control group of children matched by age and gender. However, children with certain developmental or mental health issues that affect their oral health won't be included. By gathering this information, the study aims to improve how dental services can support at-risk children and ensure they receive the care they need.
