ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying new techniques to help ensure that blood is not flowing to the brain during a specific medical procedure called Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP). The researchers want to confirm that, during this process, blood flow to the brain does not resume. They will use special imaging tests, like a CT scan of the brain and continuous monitoring of oxygen levels in the blood, to gather evidence on this. The goal is to build confidence in these techniques so they can be safely used in regular practice.
To participate in this study, individuals must be between 18 and 75 years old and be organ donors from Cambridge University Hospital who have provided consent for the study. They should also meet specific criteria for organ donation. However, those who are not eligible include donors from other hospitals or those who do not have the planned procedure. If you choose to participate, you can expect to undergo some tests to monitor brain blood flow as part of the trial. Your involvement could help improve organ donation practices in the future.
