ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how a special tool called a Patient Decision Aid (PtDA) can help patients make better treatment choices after finding a malignant colorectal polyp—essentially a growth in the colon that can be cancerous. Since there are different ways to manage this condition, like surgery or simply monitoring it, this study aims to see if using the PtDA during discussions with doctors can lead to improved decision-making compared to past experiences. The trial will also gather feedback from patients about their experiences and outcomes through questionnaires.
To participate in this study, you need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have had a malignant colorectal polyp removed through an endoscopy, with no signs of further disease spread. However, you won’t be able to join if you can’t give informed consent, have serious health issues that make surgery impossible, or have remaining cancer after your initial treatment. The trial is set to begin in early 2024 and is designed to help ensure that patients feel empowered and informed when making choices about their health care.
