ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how effective a tool called point of care ultrasound (POCUS) is for diagnosing the cause of shortness of breath (dyspnea) in patients who come to the Emergency Department (ED). Shortness of breath can be caused by various conditions, like heart failure or pneumonia, and quickly identifying the cause is crucial for providing the right treatment. In this study, doctors with limited training will use POCUS to see if it improves their ability to diagnose different issues in patients who are having trouble breathing.
To participate in the trial, you must be an adult who arrives at the ED with significant shortness of breath, low oxygen levels, or a fast breathing rate. However, if your situation requires immediate medical attention or if you are being discharged from the ED, you won’t be eligible for the study. If you take part, you can expect the doctor to perform an ultrasound to help diagnose your condition, which could lead to quicker and more accurate treatment. This research aims to improve care for patients with breathing difficulties by assessing how well POCUS can assist doctors in making diagnoses in a busy emergency setting.
