ClinConnect Summary
The Freiburg TIPS Registry is a clinical trial aimed at studying patients who have significant portal hypertension, which is high blood pressure in the veins that carry blood to the liver. This trial focuses on those who are receiving a specific treatment called a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS). This procedure helps relieve pressure in the portal vein, potentially improving patients' health and quality of life. The trial is currently recruiting participants, including individuals aged 65 to 75 and older, regardless of gender, who are eligible for TIPS due to their condition.
If you or a loved one are considering participating, you will have regular check-ups at the University Medical Center Freiburg. During these visits, doctors will monitor your health and collect blood samples to better understand how the treatment is working over the first year after the procedure. It’s important to know that participation is completely voluntary, and anyone can withdraw if they choose to do so. This study aims to gather valuable information that could help improve the care and treatment for patients with similar conditions in the future.
