ClinConnect Summary
The Methamphetamine, PrEP, and Intersectional Stigma Study is a clinical trial aimed at helping Latino men who have sex with men and who are at risk of using methamphetamine. The main goal of this study is to see if a specially designed program, called eMPrISe, can help reduce the risk of meth use and improve access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), a medication that can prevent HIV. Participants will join 12 weekly sessions that focus on building critical thinking skills, discussing how social issues can lead to harmful behaviors, and sharing experiences and resources with each other.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old, identify as Latino or Hispanic, be fluent in English or Spanish, and have had sexual activity with men in the past year. They should also be HIV-negative and have a moderate risk of meth use. Importantly, participants should have felt stigma related to their identity or experiences in their social networks recently. This study is still in the planning stage and is not yet recruiting participants, but it promises to offer valuable support to those who join.
