ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different types of touch—called Yakson and Gentle Human Touch—can help reduce pain and improve health in preterm infants during a medical procedure known as endotracheal aspiration. This procedure is often necessary for infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to help them breathe better. The researchers believe that using gentle touch may help soothe these babies and reduce their discomfort during a time when they need extra care.
To participate in this study, infants must be less than 38 weeks old, be on a mechanical ventilator for breathing support, and not have any congenital anomalies, serious illnesses, or recent surgeries. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and families can expect that their baby's responses to the different touch methods will be closely monitored during the procedure. This research aims to find better ways to provide comfort to preterm infants, which is crucial for their overall development and well-being.
