ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to predict how changes in wheelchair seating systems can affect people with neuromuscular diseases. Researchers are developing and testing a scoring system that will help doctors understand which patients might benefit from adjustments to their wheelchairs. The study involves participants from eight different centers, with some helping to create the score and others testing it to make sure it's accurate.
To join the trial, participants need to be at least 18 years old, use a wheelchair for more than four hours a day, and have a neuromuscular disease like Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy or Spinal Muscular Atrophy type II. They should also be able to work with a medical equipment provider and agree to participate in the study. Those who have had recent surgeries, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have legal guardianship restrictions cannot participate. If you join, you’ll be part of a team that aims to improve wheelchair comfort and mobility for people with similar conditions, and you’ll be closely monitored throughout the trial.
