ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of lung ultrasound in patients who come to the emergency department with dyspnea, which means difficulty breathing. The goal is to see if using this quick and safe imaging test can help reduce the chances of death and the need for readmission to the hospital within three months. Dyspnea is a common issue, and sometimes doctors can make mistakes in diagnosing the cause, which can lead to wrong treatments and worse outcomes for patients. Lung ultrasound is a better option than traditional chest X-rays because it can provide clearer and more accurate information about what’s happening in the lungs.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have been admitted to the emergency department due to difficulty breathing. Certain groups, such as those with trauma-related breathing problems or patients receiving palliative care, will not be eligible. If enrolled, participants can expect to undergo a lung ultrasound to help the medical team make a better diagnosis. The study is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to improve care for patients experiencing breathing difficulties.
