ClinConnect Summary

The Patch BRIDGE clinical trial is studying a new way to help pregnant women who have opioid use disorder start treatment with a medication called buprenorphine. Usually, patients need to go through withdrawal before beginning this treatment, which can be uncomfortable. This trial will compare using a buprenorphine patch to see if it can make starting treatment easier by reducing withdrawal symptoms and increasing the chances of successful treatment. Participants will wear the patch during their withdrawal period and will be checked regularly, both through phone surveys about their symptoms and during their prenatal appointments.

To join this trial, women must be pregnant, have a diagnosis of opioid use disorder, and be receiving prenatal care at a special clinic. They should have used opioids within the last 24 hours and want to start buprenorphine treatment. However, the study is not open to those already receiving treatment for opioid use disorder or who are actively in withdrawal when they join. This research aims to find a better way to help pregnant women manage their opioid use disorder safely and effectively.
