ClinConnect Summary
The Norwegian World Health Organisation Labour Care Guide Trial, also known as NORWEL, is a study aimed at improving the care women receive during childbirth. The trial is testing a new tool called the Labour Care Guide, which helps healthcare providers monitor the progress of labor and make decisions about care. This guide was created to ensure that women and their babies receive the best possible care during birth, while also reducing unnecessary medical interventions. Although the guide has been used in various parts of the world, this is the first time it will be tested in hospitals in Norway.
Women who are in active labor and delivering at one of the participating hospitals in Norway are eligible to join the trial. There are no specific exclusions, so if you are in labor and meet the criteria, you could participate. If you join the study, you will receive care according to the new Labour Care Guide, and your experiences will help researchers understand how well this guide works in a high-income setting like Norway. The results from the trial will help decide if this guide should be used widely across the country in the future, ultimately aiming to improve childbirth experiences for many women and their families.
