ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to compare two surgical options for women with a condition called a ventral hernia, which is when there’s a bulge in the abdomen due to a weakness in the abdominal wall. The study will examine whether having a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) along with the hernia repair is more effective than just repairing the hernia alone. The main goal is to see which method better prevents the hernia from coming back after surgery.
To participate in this trial, women aged between 21 and 59 who have a body mass index (BMI) of over 25 and specific abdominal issues may be eligible. Participants should be in generally good health, with no serious medical conditions like diabetes or severe heart or lung problems. While the trial is not yet recruiting, those who qualify can expect to undergo either surgical procedure and will be monitored afterward to see how well they recover and whether the hernia reoccurs. This study aims to help improve surgical options for women facing similar abdominal issues in the future.
