ClinConnect Summary
The "Becoming United in Lifestyle Decisions" trial is looking into ways to help couples lose weight together using an online program. This study aims to find the best methods to support weight loss and encourage partners to help each other. Couples will participate in activities like planning their weight loss goals together, giving each other feedback on their progress, learning how to support each other's independence, and making changes to their home environment to promote healthier choices.
To be eligible, both partners in a couple need to be married or living together, have a body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 55, and be comfortable using English and technology like smartphones and video calls. Participants should be willing to commit to the program and have reliable internet access. However, those who have serious medical conditions, are currently undergoing weight loss treatments, or have recently lost significant weight may not be able to participate. Couples who join this study can expect to work closely together on their weight loss journey, with guidance and support from the research team.
