ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "My Future Self," is designed to help prevent teen pregnancy among young people aged 16-19 in Los Angeles and San Diego. The program is aimed at youth who are in non-traditional education settings, such as those facing challenges like unstable housing, poverty, or involvement with the child welfare system. Over five weeks, participants will attend five group sessions that focus on important topics related to pregnancy prevention. The study will enroll up to 704 young people, who will be randomly assigned to either receive the My Future Self program along with their regular services or just their regular services alone.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be between 16 and 19 years old, speak English, and not be currently pregnant. They should also be planning to stay in the area throughout the program. All participants will complete surveys at the beginning of the study and again at six and twelve months later to help researchers understand the program's effectiveness. This is a great opportunity for youth to gain knowledge and skills that could help them make informed choices about their futures.
