ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how certain hormones in mothers can affect their children's growth and weight. Specifically, the study will focus on hormones found in both breast milk and the mother’s blood, such as leptin, insulin, and cortisol. Researchers want to see if these hormones differ between mothers who are of normal weight compared to those who were overweight or obese before pregnancy and how these differences might influence the child’s eating habits and overall growth.
To participate in this study, you need to be a breastfeeding mother who was either of normal weight or overweight before your pregnancy. Unfortunately, if you have diabetes, had a multiple pregnancy, experienced high blood pressure during pregnancy, or delivered your baby early, you won't be eligible. If you join the study, you’ll provide samples of your breast milk and blood, which will help researchers understand the link between maternal health and child development. This research is important because it could lead to better ways to support healthy growth in children based on their mothers' health.
