ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the Many Ways of Being program, is designed to help young people ages 15-19 in the greater Metropolitan DC area learn about healthy relationships and safe sexual practices. The program aims to reduce the number of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancies by addressing strict gender roles and promoting healthy, consensual relationships. Participants in the trial will attend about 14 hours and 40 minutes of sessions over 4-8 weeks and will complete surveys before, after, and nine months later to see how effective the program is in encouraging safe sex practices, like using condoms and other forms of contraception.
To be eligible for the study, participants must be between 15 and 19 years old and live in the Metropolitan DC area. However, those who are planning a pregnancy, have already taken part in similar sexual health programs, or are receiving other sexual health education during the study will not be able to participate. Participants who join the Many Ways of Being program may also have the chance to take part in optional group discussions about their experiences. This trial is currently recruiting participants and is an exciting opportunity for young people to learn important skills for their health and relationships.
