ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a medication called pregabalin on patients who are obese and undergoing a weight-loss surgery known as laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). The main goal is to see if taking pregabalin before the surgery can help reduce pain after the operation and keep patients stable during the procedure. Participants in the study will be divided into two groups: one group will receive pregabalin, while the other will not.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be adults with a body mass index (BMI) over 40, or over 35 if they have other health issues related to their weight. They must also be able to provide written consent to join the study. Unfortunately, those who have allergies to the medication, cannot understand the pain scoring system, or have certain severe health conditions will not be able to participate. If you join the trial, you can expect to help researchers learn more about managing pain and improving recovery for people undergoing this type of surgery, which could benefit many patients in the future.
