ClinConnect Summary
The POS-ARI-ER study is looking at how acute respiratory infections (ARI), like colds and flu, are diagnosed and treated in hospitals across Europe. These infections are a common reason for people to visit the hospital, and they can be caused by different viruses, like influenza and coronaviruses. The study aims to gather information on how doctors approach these infections, what treatments they use, and how well patients recover. By doing this, the researchers hope to better understand the characteristics of adult patients with ARI and the causes of their infections.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be at least 18 years old and have symptoms of a new ARI that started in the last 10 days. They must be visiting an emergency room or a secondary care hospital and provide consent to take part. However, if someone has been in the hospital for more than two days or has already participated in this study, they cannot join. Participants can expect to help researchers learn more about ARI, which could lead to better treatments in the future.
