ClinConnect Summary
The YOOMI trial is studying a new exercise program designed to help older patients in the hospital stay active while they are in bed. When patients are hospitalized, they often spend a lot of time lying down, which can lead to muscle weakness and make it harder for them to get back to their normal activities after they leave the hospital. The researchers want to see if a fun, game-like software for physical therapy can encourage patients to do exercises while still in bed, helping them to maintain their strength and mobility without needing constant help from hospital staff.
To participate in this study, patients need to be at least 65 years old, able to read and speak English, and have the ability to understand and agree to take part in the trial. They must also be enrolled in a specific hospital program and have no medical reasons that would prevent them from doing exercises while in bed. Participants can expect to use the exercise software safely from their beds, and the goal is to help them stay active during their hospital stay, potentially making their recovery easier when they return home. This trial is currently recruiting patients who meet these criteria.
