ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Human-Prosthetic Interaction: Brain & Technology After Lower-Limb Loss," is studying how the brain adapts and changes when people have a lower limb amputation below the knee. Specifically, it looks at how this impacts their ability to function and perform daily activities. People aged between 65 and 74, as well as younger individuals from 23 to 40, who have lost a leg below the knee for reasons such as injury, may be eligible to participate. To qualify, participants must have a single leg amputation, be generally healthy, and have a certain level of mobility.
If you join the study, you can expect to participate in assessments that measure how your brain and body work together with a prosthetic limb. The researchers are looking for volunteers who do not have other medical conditions that could interfere with the study, such as neurological diseases, diabetes, or other amputations. This research aims to improve the understanding of how prosthetics can better support individuals after an amputation, which could lead to better rehabilitation methods in the future.
