ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a condition called Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS), which causes ongoing pain and discomfort in the mouth. The goal is to better understand how symptoms change throughout the day by using a smartphone app to collect real-time information from patients. Researchers will also look at saliva samples to find specific markers that might be linked to the symptoms of BMS. This study is a collaboration between Penn Dental Medicine and the Wharton School of Business, aiming to improve how we understand and track this condition.
To participate, you need to be at least 18 years old and have been diagnosed with BMS for at least three months. You should also have access to a smartphone and be willing to provide saliva samples. If you join the study, you will attend two visits where you'll fill out questionnaires and give saliva samples. For 12 weeks, you'll receive prompts on your smartphone to report your symptoms three times a day. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it offers a chance to contribute to important research that could help those suffering from BMS.
