ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is investigating the short-term outcomes of different types of surgeries for patients with metastatic pathologic fractures. These fractures occur when cancer spreads to the bones, weakening them and making them more likely to break. The study is comparing three surgical methods: prosthesis (an artificial joint), intramedullary nails (a metal rod inserted into the bone), and plate and screws (metal plates and screws to stabilize the bone).

To participate in the trial, individuals need to have a metastatic pathologic fracture and must be undergoing one of the three types of surgery mentioned. Unfortunately, patients with primary bone tumors or those who are being treated with non-surgical methods will not be eligible. Participants can expect to be followed for at least one month after their surgery to assess how well the treatment is working. This trial is currently recruiting participants of all ages and genders, aiming to gather important information that could help improve treatment for patients facing similar challenges.
