ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a specific type of bacteria called E. coli, which is known to cause urinary tract infections (UTIs) that keep coming back. The study aims to collect samples of these bacteria from patients who are being treated for recurrent UTIs, especially those who are undergoing certain medical procedures, like getting a suprapubic or nephrostomy catheter. This research will help us better understand these infections and how to treat them more effectively.
To be part of this study, participants must be hospitalized for a UTI or have been diagnosed with one, particularly if E. coli is the cause. They should also be scheduled for a suprapubic or nephrostomy catheter placement. The trial is open to all adults aged 65 and older. If someone decides to join, they will be asked for their consent and will have their samples collected during routine medical procedures. It's important to note that pregnant women and those who refuse treatment or have difficulties following therapy are not eligible to participate. This study is currently looking for volunteers, and your participation could contribute to better treatments for recurrent UTIs in the future.
