ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a condition called Post Intensive Care Syndrome - Family (PICS-F), which refers to the long-term challenges that family members face after their loved ones have been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The study aims to understand how common these challenges are—like mental health issues, physical health problems, and difficulties with thinking—and to find out what factors might help prevent or worsen these issues. Researchers are particularly interested in understanding the role of support from friends and family, as well as how satisfied family members feel with their caregiving experiences.
To participate in this study, you need to be an adult (18 years or older) who is a family member of a patient in the ICU who has been receiving breathing support. You should be able to speak Spanish and be expected to help with the patient's care after they leave the hospital. If your loved one is at high risk of death or is very close to being discharged from the ICU, you won’t be able to participate. Throughout the study, you can expect to share your experiences and feelings regarding your loved one's ICU stay and your own well-being. This research will help improve understanding and support for families facing these challenges.
