ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is comparing two types of minimally invasive surgeries for treating diverticulitis, a condition that affects the colon. The surgeries being studied are robotic colectomy and laparoscopic colectomy. The main goal is to see if the robotic approach can reduce the need to switch to a more invasive open surgery during the procedure. Researchers are also looking at whether there are differences in complications, recovery times, and hospital stays between the two methods over a year.

To participate in this study, you need to be an adult over 18 years old and require an elective surgery for diverticulitis, either complicated or not. Those who have emergency surgeries or are younger than 18 are not eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive one of the two surgical approaches and will be monitored for a year to track your recovery. This research hopes to provide clearer information about the benefits of robotic surgery for diverticular disease, as there isn’t enough evidence currently available.
