ClinConnect Summary
The LEAPTogether trial is studying how exercise can help reduce feelings of loneliness and social isolation in older adults. In this study, older participants (ages 65 and up) will take part in exercise videos twice a week for eight weeks. They will either exercise with another older adult or with a younger adult, and they will be able to see and talk to each other through video chat while they work out. The goal is to see if this intergenerational approach can improve social connections and overall well-being.
To join the study, participants need to be 65 years or older, have a younger partner aged 18-30, and have access to a computer or tablet with a good-sized screen for video chatting. They should also have a suitable space at home for exercising and be able to understand English. Importantly, individuals with dementia cannot participate in this trial. This is a great opportunity for older adults to engage in exercise while building connections with younger people, all from the comfort of their own homes!
