ClinConnect Summary
The AMNIOmics study is looking at a new way to quickly understand the genetic health of a fetus through a test called Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) using amniotic fluid. This study aims to speed up the diagnosis of potential genetic issues in babies who have multiple health concerns before they are born, helping parents make informed decisions and improving care for the newborn.
To be eligible for this study, you need to be a pregnant person who is already planning to have an amniocentesis, which is a procedure where a small amount of amniotic fluid is taken for testing. This is typically done for different reasons, such as checking for genetic conditions. However, the study is not open to everyone; for instance, if you are under 18 years old or unable to give consent, you won't be able to participate. If you join the study, you can expect to have your amniotic fluid tested using the new sequencing method, which could provide important information about your baby’s health faster than traditional methods.
