ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of using warm and humidified carbon dioxide during laparoscopic bariatric surgery, which includes procedures like gastric bypass. The main goal is to see if this method can help reduce post-operative pain and the need for pain medication after surgery. Researchers are looking for participants who are planning to have elective bariatric surgery or hiatal hernia repair. Those who have had recent surgeries, take daily pain medications, or have certain medical conditions like dementia or psychiatric issues may not be eligible.

If you join this trial, you will receive either the warm and humidified carbon dioxide or the standard method of using air for the procedure. The study is currently recruiting participants aged 18 and older, regardless of gender. By participating, you may help researchers understand better ways to manage pain after surgery, ultimately benefiting future patients. It's important to discuss your options and any questions you have with your healthcare provider before deciding to participate.
