ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how training in a communication tool called SBAR (which stands for Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) can help caregivers feel more confident when managing respiratory distress in patients with lung cancer. Respiratory distress, or difficulty breathing, is a common and serious issue for these patients, and caregivers often find themselves in the position of needing to communicate crucial information about the patient’s condition to emergency services. The goal of this trial is to provide caregivers with training using a fun and interactive online game, which will make it easier for them to remember and relay important details during stressful situations.
To participate in this trial, caregivers must be over 18 years old and designated as a support person for someone who has just been diagnosed with lung cancer and is starting treatment. They should be providing daily help without pay, and they must be comfortable using a computer or smartphone. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but if you or someone you know fits these criteria, this could be a great opportunity to learn valuable skills while supporting a loved one facing lung cancer.
