ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different ways to treat a specific type of shoulder injury called an acromioclavicular joint dislocation, which can occur when the collarbone and shoulder blade become separated. The study compares two methods: one involves a surgery called arthroscopic assisted CC stabilization with an extra support called K-wire fixation, while the other just uses the arthroscopic assisted CC stabilization without the K-wire. The main goal is to see if adding the K-wire makes a significant difference in how well patients recover and how their shoulders function afterward.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be between 18 and 45 years old and have a specific type of acute shoulder injury classified as Rockwood type III, IV, or V. People will not be able to join if they have had previous shoulder surgeries, certain injuries, or if their injury occurred more than three weeks ago. Those who participate can expect to undergo the designated surgery and will be monitored for their recovery, helping researchers understand the best approach for treating this injury. Importantly, the trial is currently seeking volunteers, so there's an opportunity for eligible patients to contribute to this important research.
