ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how a special referral process for bone health can help patients who have had surgery on their lower legs or hips. Specifically, it aims to find out if having a surgeon directly refer patients to a bone health specialist, instead of sending them to their regular doctor, can reduce complications related to their implants and help prevent fragile bone fractures. Researchers will compare the outcomes of patients who follow this new referral pathway with those who stick to the usual care to see which approach leads to better results.
To participate in this trial, you need to be over 50 years old and have a confirmed diagnosis of osteoporosis, which is a condition that weakens bones. However, if you have already been diagnosed with osteoporosis in the past or have received treatment for it, you won’t be eligible to join. If you qualify, you can expect to be part of a study that aims to improve care for people with bone health issues after surgery, contributing to better outcomes for future patients.
