ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "Accompanying Scientific Program for the Quality Contract Prevention of Postoperative Delirium in the Care of Older Patients" (WB-QC-POD) is studying postoperative delirium, which is a type of confusion that can occur after surgery, especially in older patients. The researchers want to understand what factors may lead to this condition, such as the body's internal clock and heart rate patterns. They will look at patients who are already part of another study (QC-POD) to gather more information about how common delirium is after surgery and what influences it.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be at least 70 years old and able to provide informed consent, meaning they understand the study and agree to take part. This includes both men and women who are scheduled for surgery. However, certain patients, such as those in very poor health, those who do not speak German well, or those with specific heart conditions, are not eligible. Participants will be closely monitored, and their experiences may help improve care for older patients undergoing surgery in the future.
